Dental cleaning is a procedure performed under general anesthetic. Our medical staff will check for gingival pockets or fractured/sensitive teeth using a dental probe. Using an ultrasonic scaler, all tartar and visible plaque are removed. Then, with a high-speed polisher, the surfaces are smoothed to delay plaque build-up.
Tooth resorption is a disease of the tooth. The exact cause is still unknown. Tooth resorption is similar to cavities; however, the decay starts from the inside of the tooth. The molars of the lower jaw are most frequently affected. Eventually, the sensitive inner pulp of the tooth is exposed. The only treatment for resorbed teeth is surgical extraction.
Our staff recommends brushing your pet's teeth every other day, if possible. This will help prevent tartar and plaque build-up.
